Michael Shane Womack

Michael Shane Womack, age 55, of Blairsville, GA, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA. Michael was born November 9, 1970, in Wilmington, NC to Howard and Joyce Womack. Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in a combat role during Operation Desert Storm.

Shane will be remembered not only for his service, but for the love, laughter, and light he brought into the lives of those who knew him. He was a genuinely kind and giving man, the kind of person who made others feel at ease the moment they were around him. Shane had a natural gift for humor. He was often the first to crack a joke, bringing smiles even in difficult moments, and his laughter will echo in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

More than anything, Shane was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the center of his world, and he was endlessly proud of his children, never missing a chance to celebrate them, encourage them, and remind them how much they were loved. The bond he shared with them was deep and enduring, and his love will continue to guide them in the years ahead.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Howard Womack; mother, Joyce Womack; brother, Gene Womack; and step-mother, Sherryl Womack.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Janene Dyer-Womack; son, David (Angell) Womack; daughter, Reese (Lucas) Bray; sisters, Teresa Whiddon, Tracy (Doug) Pittman, and Carlise (Ben) Womack-Wynne; and grandchild, Elanor Bray.

Memorial Service, on Wednesday April 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Old Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating.
