Minnie Joyce McFarland, age 89, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away in Blue Ridge on Thursday, July 16, 2026. She was born in Hogansville, Georgia on January 11, 1937 to the late Virgil Arvist Jackson and Minnie Lee French Jackson.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reid McFarland; brother, Arvist Jackson and daughter, Debbie Galloway. She is survived by her children, James Roper of Blue Ridge; Timothy Roper of Murphy, North Carolina; Joanna Williamson of Enterprise, Alabama; and Bonnie Stanley of Blue Ridge. She is survived by her 12, grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Many other extended family and friends also survive. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joyce lived in many places but always sought to return to Blue Ridge which was her home for the later years of her life. She was always a happy person and dedicated with love to her family. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and made her very happy. Joyce was also known for her keen sense of humor and her quick wit. She loved to travel by any means possible; car, bus, plane, etc... Joyce was a sports fan enjoying many sports but rooted for her Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons especially. When she resided in Atlanta, Georgia, she would often walk to The Varisty and The Fox.
A graveside service is scheduled for Sunday, July 19 2026 at 2:00pm at the Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens in Blue Ridge, Georgia with Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. The following will serve as pallbearers: James Roper, Timothy Roper, Scott Roper, J.R. Williamson, Robert Williamson and Nathan Stanley.
