Nan Nelson

Mrs. Nan Siron Nelson, age 77 of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Nelson was born Monday, September 2, 1929 in Lexington, Illinois to the late Floyd Siron and the late Litta Breese Siron. She married Roger Lee Nelson on August 10, 1957 in Hugo, OK. He passed away in 2005.

She attended Illinois State Normal and graduated from Michigan State Normal in 1951. She began her 24 year teaching career teaching English and History in Clinton, IL and from there, Morris, IL, Longview, TX, Kansas City, KS, Miami, FL and finally Tallahassee, FL. In 1979, she retired from teaching while at Godby High School.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Donna Nelson of Bainbridge, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Juliana and Dan Hennig of Gonzales, TX, brother and sister-in-law, Floyd Keith and Lillian Siron of Morris, IL, brother, Paul Siron of Joliet, IL, sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Richard Arends of Bayles Lake at Loda, IL, sisters-in-law, Verneil and Doris Siron of Lexington, IL, grandson, Hunter Nelson of Tallahassee, FL, granddaughter, Katherine Nelson of Tallahassee, FL, 14 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lexington, Illinois, with the Pastor David Bergelin officiating. The family will recieve friends at the Calvert-Musselman Funeral Home in Lexington, Friday July 20th from 5 until 7 PM. Interment will follow in Lexington Cemetery.

There will be another visitation in Blairsville, Georgia at Cochran Funeral Home from 10-12, Wednesday, July 25.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to American Cancer Society or to Regency Hospice in Hiawassee, Georgia.
