Nancy Lorraine Jackson

Nancy Lorraine Jackson, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Towns County, Georgia, on June 21, 2026.

Born on June 1, 1948, at the Naval Base in Annapolis, Maryland, Nancy lived life on her own terms. She was stubborn, tough, and never afraid to tell you exactly what she thought. She could be hard-headed and difficult at times, but that was just her, and anyone who knew her understood that.

Over the years, she worked many jobs, but she was most proud of her time as a truck driver and later as a Medical-Surgical nurse at Spaulding Regional Hospital, where she retired after years of hard work.

When she wasn’t working, Nancy enjoyed flowers, gardening, and her pets. Her animals were some of her favorite companions throughout her life.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Gwen Sherman; her grandchildren, Stacey Whitmire, Ashley Counts, Matthew Galloway, and Jack Sherman; Amber Rhodes and Ashley Watson, children of her late daughter Michelle Leepart; her brother, Darryl Peltz; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jackie Jackson and Dennis Phillips; and her parents, Herbert Howell and Winnie Peltz.

Nancy leaves behind a lifetime of memories and stories that her family will continue to share for years to come. Whether those stories bring laughter, tears, or a little bit of both, they are a reminder of a woman who was truly one of a kind. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
