Nancy Ann Lugar Weiler was born on June 26, 1941 in Milwaukee Wisconsin, to Margaret and Carl Lugar. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Weiler in 1963.
She was a dedicated educator, speech pathologist, and audiologist and had a profound impact on the lives of many children. In addition to working with children from birth to three years, she was the director for the Audiology Clinic at Eastern Illinois University, as well as a tenured professor. She enjoyed fiber arts, and spun raw fleece into yarn for knitting. She organized a group of fiber artists, who hosted a regional fiber arts fair. She also created beaded jewelry and established a group to whom she taught beading and wire wrapping. She stayed active until becoming paralyzed in 2022; prior to this, she walked five miles a day, and once taught water aerobics.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Bill Weiler; her three children, Michelle Weiler, Todd Weiler, and Kirk Weiler; grandchildren Max and Evie; and many friends and former students.
Nancy will be remembered as a vivacious go-getter who accomplished everything she set her mind to achieve.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 26th at Cochran Mcdaniel Funeral Home of Blairsville at 2:00pm.
