Norris Kent Jones

Norris Kent Jones, age 67, of Murphy, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026 in Sylva, North Carolina. Mr. Jones was born on July 16, 1958 in Murphy, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Brooks Jones.

Norris is survived by his father, Ervin Jones; son, Brett Rice; sisters, Debbie (R.L.) Howard, Lisa (Tim) Dickey, and Kim Loudermilk; grandchildren, Aubrie and Zoey Rice. Many nieces and nephews, along with additional extended family, also survive.

Norris truly enjoyed music. He found pleasure in browsing and selling at flea markets as his favorite activity, His talent for crafting found expression in leather work. He sold many of those creations at local flea markets. He always looked forward to a good mind challenging game of chess.

Graveside services for Norris Kent Jones are scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Flax Creek Cemetery on Sunny Point Road in Murphy, North Carolina with Rev. Tim Dickey and Rev. Calvin Murphy officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Allen Harris.

The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Benjamin Loudermilk, David Taylor, Carson Taylor, Avery Taylor, Bentley Taylor and Brett Rice. Honorary pallbearers include; R.L. Howard, Brent Gladson, Lewis Foster, Jerry Gladson, Gary Taylor and Clayton Mitchell.
