Opal Faye McGaha

Opal Faye McGaha, 76, of Young Harris, Georgia, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023, at her home in Young Harris, GA. 

Opal was born October 25, 1946, in Union County, to the late John Walter Lovell and Rosell Gibson Lovell.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 45 years, Gerald Dan McGaha Sr; daughter, Donna McGaha Stroud; two brothers, Henry Lovell and Earl Lovell; and five sisters, Mildred Grizzle, Bonnie Seabolt, Ruby Garrett, Lillian Garrett, and Elena (Shovell) Stanley.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law CaSandra Warren and Terry Warren of Blairsville Georgia; son and daughter-in-law Gerald McGaha, Jr. and Shelia McGaha of Young Harris Georgia; son and daughter-in-law Aaron McGaha and Brandi McGaha of Young Harris Georgia; daughter and son-in-law Sharon Whitmire and Michael Whitmire; grandchildren, Trevor McGaha, Shawnda Stroud Fuller, Daryl Green, Jordan McGaha, Jordan Patterson, Austin McGaha, Dillon McGaha, Peyton McGaha, Nathan McGaha, and Haven Whitmire; great-grandchildren, Kendall Fuller, Jackson Fuller, and Walker McGaha; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Geneva Garrett of Suches Georgia, Bessie Cain of Gainesville Georgia, and Linda and Gary Payne of Cumming Georgia.  Many other relatives and friends survive.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 7th at 2:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Pastor Gerald (Jerry) McGaha Jr. officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Trevor McGaha, Daryl Green, Jordan McGaha, Austin McGaha, Dillon McGaha, and Nathan McGaha. Peyton McGaha will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends at Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville from 6:00 pm - 8:00pm on Sunday, August 6th.
