Philip Wayne Gatlin
Philip Wayne Gatlin, 89, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026. Born on June 30, 1937, Philip lived a life rooted in faith, service, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.
Philip proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, carrying the values of honor and service throughout his life. He continued that spirit of service as Chaplain of the American Legion for four years, offering encouragement, compassion, and spiritual guidance to fellow veterans and members of his community.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Philip was a faithful member of House of Prayer, where he joyfully sang in the church choir for 15 years. His love for the Lord was evident in both his words and his actions, and he touched countless lives through his kindness, generosity, and servant's heart.
Above all, Philip cherished his family. He was theloving father of Deborah, Lynda, Donna, and Lori. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Gatlin, and his daughter, Debrah Portock.
He is survived by his loving daughters; his sister, Linda Peeples; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever cherish his love, wisdom, and enduring example of faith.
Philip will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steadfast faith, dedication to serving others, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy will live on throughthe generations he leaves behind and through the many lives he touched with his compassion and unwavering commitment to God, family, and country.
