Philip Wells Myers

Philip Wells Myers slipped into eternity on May 9, 2026, at the age of 77, after courageously battling heart and renal failure. Born in Akron, Ohio, Philip’s life was marked by dedication, a strong faith in Jesus Christ and a passion for his family.

Raised in Akron, Philip completed his high school years in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he wrestled at Worcester Academy.  He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Over a distinguished 45-year career, Philip made significant contributions within the Property Casualty Insurance industry. His professional path took him to companies in Cleveland, Ohio, New York City, New York, and Morristown, New Jersey, where he also earned respected designations including CPCU, ARM, and Are. His work was underscored by a steadfast commitment to ethics, a trait that defined his professional and personal reputation.

Beyond his career, Philip was a man of rich character and diverse interests. He was interested in history, statistics and watching The History Channel. His love of good rock and roll music, guitar playing, and songwriting revealed a creative spirit that balanced harmoniously with his analytical mind.  Philip's enthusiasm for life included cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all else, the joy of Philip's life was the love of his life, his wife of 28 years, Lorraine Elizabeth. Together, they shared a lifetime of cherished memories and unwavering devotion.  They also shared a passion for helping animals and found great joy in providing a home to their many beloved dogs throughout the years.

Faith was a cornerstone of Philip’s life, shaping his outlook and endowing him with resilience and grace. His good sense of humor, profound love, and strong ethical compass endeared him to family, friends, and colleagues alike.

Philip is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Lorraine Elizabeth; his son, Carl Philip (Heather); his daughter, Ashley Farist (Michael); sister Carla Dybek; brother Thomas; and his cherished grandchildren Ellis Johann, Emerie Joelle, Tori Rose, and Margot Jane. He is also remembered fondly by his nieces and nephews, dear friends, and his good buddy William Gelert. He was preceded in death by his father, Minor Myers; mother, Ruth Libby; and brother, Minor Myers Jr., (Ellen).

Philip Wells Myers leaves behind a legacy of integrity, devotion, and warmth. His abiding faith, kindness, and zest for life continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His enduring smile in the face of adversity leaves an imprint on the hearts of his family and friends. His memory will forever be a blessing.
