Robert Lee Shepherd Jr., age 84, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away Monday, November 28th, 2023.

Bob was born and reared in Kentucky.  After graduating from Berea College with a Biology degree he married Eva and then served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Texas, California and Hawaii.  He later retired from Delta Airlines after 30 years as a pilot.  He served as an elder in the PCA church, sang in the choir, was a Chaplain with the Gideons, and was deeply involved in mission work.  He enjoyed traveling the world, visiting National Parks, playing games, telling silly jokes, and spending time with his family, especially the love of his life, his wife of almost 62 years, Eva.  His goal in life was to share the love of Jesus with everyone he could.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Eva Nell Shepherd; son, Robert Lee Shepherd, III (Michelle);  daughter, Mary Beth Tucker; grandchildren: Chandler Ellen Shepherd, Heidi Slay Shepherd, Savannah Faith Tucker and Noah Tucker, and his sister, Phyllis Warner.


A memorial service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church in Blairsville, Georgia on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Military honors will be presented by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Missions Fund of Grace Presbyterian Church, or The Gideons.
