Robert Stephen Tipton

Robert Stephen Tipton, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on June 19, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on January 25, 1957, to the late John and Ethel Wright Tipton in Copperhill, Tennessee. Robert loved the mountains of North Georgia and was a lifelong resident of Morganton, Georgia.

Robert embodied the virtues of hard work and determination and was a self-taught tradesman in many fields. His innate intelligence and skills allowed him to tackle any challenge with confidence and grace. Known for his unwavering spirit and the ability to connect with others, Robert had a unique gift for making friends wherever he went; indeed, he never met a stranger. His warm presence and unforgettable personality left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and infant son , John Robert Tipton.

As a Christian, Robert was an active member of Wilscot Baptist Church, where he found joy and community in his faith. He cherished his family above all else, fiercely loving his daughter Shawna (Jason Rhoads) Tipton, granddaughter Sienna Seagle, grandson Pierson Archer, as well as his siblings: Carolyn Chambers, Randy (Carole) Tipton, Shirley Tipton, and Richard (Donna) Tipton. He is also survived by his life partner, Kathy Penland. Additionally, he is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and his uncle Frank Tipton.

Robert loved being outdoors, enjoying his hobbies of hunting and fishing.

Visitation will be held on June 27, 2026, at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, Blue Ridge Chapel, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.

A motorcycle last ride will be held at a later date to inter his cremated remains in the Sugar Hill Cemetery.
