Roger James Floyt

Mr. Roger James Floyt, age 63, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Friday, March 23, 2007 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.
Mr. Floyt was born in Bay City, Michigan, on Friday, May 7, 1943, a son of Dolores Martin Floyt and the late Victor Hugo Floyt. Roger became a Boy Scout, and was an Order of the Arrow member. He went on to become an Explorer, and finally, a Sea Scout. Roger had graduated from high school with honors and a scholarship to MI Tech in June 1961. He was still an active Key Club member in college. While in college, Roger worked as a surveyor. He joined the U.S. Army, was was a veteran of The Vietnam War, The Gulf War, and The Haiti Conflict. Roger had lived in Blairsville since 2004, moving here from Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Blairsville. Preceding him in death was his father, Victor, and a sister, Linda Louise Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Veatrice Winn Floyt, of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, James Kirkland and Vicki Floyt, of Clayton, North Carolina; and a daughter, Kristen Leigh Floyt, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his mother, Dolores Floyt, of Blairsville; his mother-in-law, Bernice Winn, also of Blairsville; brother-in-law, Harlie Winn, of Angier, North Carolina; and brother-in-law, Don Winn, of Blairsville. three grandchildren: Megan Bauer, William Floyt, and Olivia Floyt; two neices, Jennifer Beaver and Kimberly Winn. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. from the All Saints Lutheran Church, with Pastor Dave Wesche officiating. Military honors will be presented by North Georgia Honor Guard.
