Rose Postelle, 84, of Ducktown, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Rose was born January 30, 1942, in Ducktown, TN, to the late Roosevelt and Gwendolyn Padgett.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Whittenbarger; husband, Russell Postelle; sister, Mary Shields; brother, Ray Padgett; and son-in-law, Eddie Panter. She is survived by her son, Renny (Tamara) Whittenbarger; daughter, Gwen Panter; granddaughters, Kristin (James) Allen and Kellie (Daniel) Postell; great-granddaughters, Abigail and Gabriella Postell. She is also survived by her sisters, Libby Thomas and Jenny (Butch) Pittman, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was affectionally known by her family as Gran. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman - full of grace, kindness, and a faith that was evident in every part of her life. Anyone who met her loved her because she loved so well.
Gran spent many years as a teacher, pouring into others with patience and encouragement. Beyond her career, she was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother - the heart of our family. Even after becoming widowed, her faith never wavered. If it was rooted in love, faith, and serving others, she lived it.
"She is clothed with strength and dignity... Her children arise and call her blessed."- Proverbs 31:25, 28
She had a sweet spirit and a servant's heart, always caring for others before herself. Her life was a quiet testimony of God's love and faithfulness.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."- Psalm 34:18
While her family grieves her loss deeply, they are comforted knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior. Her family is forever grateful for her loving them so faithfully and for leaving them a legacy of faith, kindness, and love. She will be forever missed and always treasured.
