Roy Rudolph "Rudy" Jernigan

Mr. Roy Rudolph Jernigan, age 81 of Riverdale, Georgia, passed away October 30, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Jernigan was born September 1, 1930 in Donalsonville, GA to the late Roy Jernigan and the late Ella Mae Williams Jernigan. He graduated from Georgia State University in 1959 with a degree in business administration. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro. Rudy served in the US Army from July 15, 1955 to June 30, 1961. He retired Southern Regional Manager of Kemper Insurance in Atlanta in 1991. Rudy loved gardening.

Rudy was preceded in death by father, Roy Jernigan, mother, Ella Mae Jernigan, wife, Marie Welch Jernigan, son, Ernest (Butch) Jones, sister, Mayme Herring, sister, Julia Danford, brother, Denver E. Jernigan, and niece, Barbara Cox.

Survivors include: daughter and son in law, Sandra & Don Thompson, granddaughter, Marie Stokes, grandson, Timothy S. Jones, granddaughter, Jennifur Lynn Watkins, grandson, George (Mat) Mathews, granddaughter, Andrea Jones, nine great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Fred Danford. niece, Cathy Danford, and daughter in law, Ginger Jones, great niece, Kimberly Henderson, two great nephews, Donnie Cox and Shane Cox..

Funeral services: Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Mitchell officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Mat Matthew, Seth Jones, Jeff Welch, Zack Welch, Mark Amos, and Donald Thompson. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery, in Copperhill, TN. Military honors will be performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
