Sarah "virginia" Merritt

Mrs. Sarah Virginia Merritt, age 89 of Morganton, GA, passed away in Lawrenceville, GA. Monday, August 17, 2009. Virginia was born in Luray, VA on May 31, 1920 to the late Harry Carrie Fain Quintrell. She was an Alumna of North Georgia College & taught school at Morganton Elementary School for 29 years, retiring in 1976. She is preceded in death by her husband Claude W. Merritt who died in 1993 and her son Jerald Lee Merritt who also died on Monday, August 17, 2009. Merritt was a member of Morganton Baptist Church and a member of the Morganton Eastern Star.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Webb of Lawrenceville, GA.; son, Claude Robert "Bob" Merritt of Mineral Bluff, GA.; daughter-in-law, Patricia Merritt of Conyers, GA., 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and half-sister, Marjorie Finter of Luray, VA.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 from 6:00-9:00pm at the Henry Cochran Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August, 20, 2009 at 11:00am in the Henry Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery.
