Shirley Mae Housley, age 90, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, in Jasper, Georgia. She was born on January 3, 1936 to the late J.C. and Gertrude Qualls in Dalton, Georgia. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Housley.
She is survived by children, Jackie (Doris) Housley, Diane (Steve) West, Rick (Pat) Housley and Anthony (Stephanie) Housley; brother, Grady Qualls; sisters, Francis Williams and Clara Adams; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.
Shirley was know for her culinary skills and especially for her biscuits. She always had a quiet presence as a very shy person, but her love and devotion to family and others shone through brightly. She enjoyed working out in God's created nature working in her flowers and growing vegetables in her garden. Shirley was a accomplished bowler in her early years. She was a creative artis in sewing and tailoring.
Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Chapel in McCaysville, Georgia with Rev. Lamar O'Neal and Rev. Craig O'Neal officiating. Music will be provided by Juanette Callihan, Rev. Craig O'Neal, Becca O'Neal and Kayla Stanford.
The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Gabe Buchanan, Ricky Curtis, Nathan Cox, Cameron Curly, Drew Foresman and Davy Ensley. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Housley, Chris Foresman, Larry Foster, and Larry Dilbeck.
Interment will follow the funeral service in the Bethel Church Cemetery in McCaysville, Georgia.
The family will be receiving friends in a time of visitation on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in McCaysville, Georgia.
