The Nguyen

On May 15, 2025, The Huu Nguyen ,67, lovingly known as, Joseph, went to rest high on the mountain near his home in Marble, NC. After graduating from high school, Joseph joined the Marines. Then he returned to Florida to become a policeman. But the job he was most proud of was being a Correctional Security Officer and a member of the Swat Team for many years. After retiring and moving to his mountain home, Joseph enjoyed fishing, listening to his favorite music, and building things with wood. He loved to 'chit chat' with his best friend Charlie when he took a break from mowing. He loved nature and hiking trails. He fed and named the humming birds every season. He even helped turtles cross the road safely. Joseph loved planting flowers, roses and "Sad Susan', he called them. But most of all, was Joseph's love for dogs and cats. He was "daddy" to many during his lifetime. He traveled a lot with his pal "Bandit". For 19 years, he lovingly cared for his 2 Jack Russell's, Rosey & Sugar.

Joseph was preceded in death by his Dad, John Van Es and his sister Linh Nguyen. Left to cherish his memory are his Mom, Kim Anh Van Es, his 2 brothers, Thai Nguyen, and Tuan aka "Butch" Nguyen. Also his 2 sisters, Lien Quach and Lang Aldofi. Joseph is also survived by his beloved companion of 23 years, Anita Salstrom.

Joseph made friends everywhere he went and always tried to make people laugh. He never let anyone go hungry with his great cooking skills. He was very honest, strong, and brave. He worked hard on everything he attempted. Joseph will be greatly missed but has left us all with beautiful memories.
