Thomas Newton Carlton, a beloved presence within both his community and his family, passed away on May 29th, 2023, at the age of 84 in his home. He was born on June 14th, 1938 in Arcadia, FL to Maurice Carlton and Isabel Allison Carlton. A resident of Blairsville, GA since 2001, Thomas was a member of First Baptist Church.
Tom lived a full life overflowing with accomplishments. A graduate with a Masters degree in business, Tom pursued his passions and became a successful real estate broker who was recognized as realtor of the year in 2002. His dedication to his craft and unmatched insightfulness made him an industry leader, and he inspired countless up-and-coming individuals with his expertise. He was a member of the Northeast Georgia Board of Realtors.
Tom’s devotion to education extended beyond his professional life; he was an avid learner and never missed an opportunity to expand his knowledge. Apart from his prowess in business, Tom enjoyed a love of radio communication and participated as an active member of the amateur radio community. Despite being incredibly busy with work and family responsibilities, Tom found time for his hobbies and interests throughout his life.
Above all else, however, Tom was most devoted to his family. He married Alice Gail Carlton. Alice’s passing left a hole in Tom's heart but he filled it when he met the love of his life Martha Nell Carlton, whom he married later on in life.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Isabel Carlton; first wife, Alice Gail Carlton; and son, Thomas Allen (Dara) Morgan.
Tom is survived by Martha Nell Carlton (wife); sons, Stephen Maurice (Susie) Carlton of Orlando, Mark Edward (Maureen) Carlton of Washington Cross, Todd Ingram (Sally) Carlton, Michael Scot (Veronica) Morgan, Dr. Jeffrey Paul (Claire) Morgan, daughter, Paula (Tim) Carroll, step-sons, Clint (Cami) Smith, and Mark (Amy) Smith; brother, Daniel Allison (Chee) Carlton; and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tom adored spending time with those close to him; having twenty-seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren afforded him endless joy as they would spend quality time together. The value that Tom placed on family relationships is one that has been imparted on his loved ones, who will continue to remember and value their connections to one another.
Tom will always be remembered as a kind, selfless man who led an exceptional life. May his memory live on through the countless cherished memories he has left behind, illuminating the lives of those fortunate enough to have been touched by him.
