Thomas M Scarborough

Thomas M. Scarborough, 76, passed away on April 10, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 17, 1949, in Albany, GA, to Fletcher and Sarah Akins Scarborough.Tommy spent much of his life in Albany, Georgia, where he, along with his beloved wife, made their home for many years. He was a devoted member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church in Albany for over 60 years, a community he cherished deeply. Later in life, when they moved to Blairsville, they joined the First Baptist Church of Blairsville, Georgia, becoming an active and beloved part of that congregation as well.

He found joy in simple pleasures such as reading and traveling. He was an outdoors man and enjoyed fishing, hiking, and camping, Tommy was especially passionate about working with youth, dedicating his time and heart to the youth ministry while at Byne Memorial. His love for helping others extended beyond that, and since moving to Blairsville, he was a part of the Senior Adult Ministry, and he volunteered faithfully at First Fruits Ministry and Ebenezer Baptist Church Children's Ministry.

One of Tommy's greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren. Numerous summer trips, and especially trips to the beach, were a treasured tradition, creating memories filled with laughter and love that his family will always hold dear.Tommy's life was a beautiful example of faith, family, and service. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched with his warmth and kindness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sheila Scarborough; children Zane Thomas (Lori) Scarborough and Amy (Walt) Scarborough Malham; grandchildren Madison Kiley Malham, Turner Solomon Scarborough, Lindy Zane Scarborough, and Jacob Thomas Malham; and sister Anne Hughes. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher and Sarah Scarborough.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Blairsville Rock Chapel at 11:00 am with Pastor Ricky Powell officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, April 13, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Blairsville Rock Chapel. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers. Turner Scarborough, Jacob Malham, Cameron Carlton, Zach Flanagan, Bart McDaniel, Seth Colwell, and Mitchell Ingram. Interment will follow at Union Memory Gardens in Blairsville, GA.
