Verna Ree Cook Shuler

Mrs. Verna Ree Cook Shuler, age 96, passed away on June 15, 2026. 

Verna Ree was born in Blairsville, Georgia on March 12, 1930, to Waco and Ulma Akins Cook. She was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church. Verna Ree will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed nothing more than to spend time with her beloved family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Shuler, parents, Waco and Ulma Cook; and brothers, Franklin Cook and J.W. Cook.

Verna Ree is survived by her daughter, Becky Bowie; son, Dennis (Stacey) Shuler; grandchildren, Bobby Bowie, Blake (Rebekah) Shuler, Becca (Seth) Lanier; and great-grandchildren, Selah Lanier, Emberlin Shuler, and the soon-to-arrive Malachi Davis Lanier.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home & Crematory Blairsville Chapel. Funeral Service for Verna Ree Shuler will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home & Crematory Blairsville Chapel with Blake Shuler officiating. 

Interment will follow at Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery in Blairsville, Georgia.
