Willa Mae Ballew

Willa Mae Ballew, a lifetime resident of the Wolf Creek community of Murphy, North Carolina, was born on November 12, 1937, to the late Willburn Ellard and Edith Lee Ledford Hancock. Willa Mae was a devout Christian and a member of Pleasant Hill BaptistChurch, Willa Mae was a devoted wife and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, embroidering, and watching the wildlife in her backyard. She was a gentle, kind, caring woman who will be greatly missed by those closest to her. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Billy J. Ballew; her daughter, Patricia Ann Ballew; two grandsons, Donald Nicholson and Corey Mobley; and several brothers and sisters. 

She is survived by her sister, Rosie Mae Harris; her two sons, Michael and Timothy Ballew; and her daughter, Wanda (Kevin) Brown. She was the proud grandmother to six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service scheduled for Friday, February 28, 2025, at 1:00 pm from the Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home McCaysville Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Pearson officiating. Eulogy presented by Kevin Brown. 

Interment will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery in Copperhill, TN.

Pallbearers: Chris Moore, Ricky Nicholson, Dustin Drennan, William Davis, Matt Henderson, and Derrick Cook.

Honorary Pallbearers: Kevin Brown, Austin Drennan, and Mason Drennan.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home of McCaysville, GA.
