William W Pruett

Bill Pruett, 86, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Bill was a professional musician having played with Bill Monroe at the Grand Ole Opry, performed at Disney, and shared the stage with many other bands throughout his career. Most recently, he was playing music with the Carolina Bluegrass Band.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents Vinson and Velma Pruett, and his daughter Carrie Stewart.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn; his sons, Steve (Debbie) Pruett and Roland (Christine) Pruett; his stepson, David (Vivian) Green, 10 Grandchildren, and 17 Great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, at Midway Baptist Church, followed by a short memorial service. His final resting place will be at Bethel Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 62 Nantahala School Road, Nantahala, NC 28713.

In lieu of flowers, Bill would request donations be made to the Midway Baptist Church Youth Fund, C/O James Millsaps, 2024 Beech Creek Road, Robbinsville, NC 28771.
