Willie Reuben Thomas

Willie Reuben Thomas, Jr., age 81, went home to the Lord March 22, 2023. Willie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Elaine Going Thomas, his son, Gregory Alan Thomas (and daughter-in-law Angela Holton Thomas), three grandchildren, Bethany Anne Thomas (Andy), Christopher Adam Thomas (Brandi), and Mary Georgia Sessions Wise (Ryan), his brother, Haskell Thomas (Peggy), sister, Darlene Ledford (Terry), and five great grandchildren, Cole, Kinsley, Braden, Anakin, and Ethan.

 

Willie was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianna Gaye Thomas Sessions, his parents, Reuben Thomas, Sr. and Edna Botts Thomas, his sisters, Sue Kent, Joyce Speakes, and Diane Thomas, and his brother, David Thomas.

 

Willie graduated from Forest Park High School, Forest Park, Georgia, in 1960, and married Martha when she also graduated from the same school, as did all his siblings. He was employed for 41 and 1/2 years by Georgia Power Company, and was highly educated by that company.

 

Willie, a kind, generous, wonderful, humorous man, is now released from his 15 years of illness. He was a member at First Christian Church in forest Park where he served as elder and teacher, and for the last 15 years a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Jasper, Georgia. A memorial service will be planned there soon.
